An update on the future of Backdrop, Horizon and more!

Here at Backdrop Labs we are big on experimenting. Last summer, we kicked-off another one together with our good friends at Seed Club, called Horizon. The idea was to design a professional network to help builders collaborate and support each other while creating the next million community-owned businesses.

A few months in, we can confidently say this experiment is working! We've seen incredible collaborations and great builders already leaning in with us, and with each other. So it also became obvious pretty quickly that the right decision is to narrow our focus in order to build Horizon into what we believe it can become.

Starting today, Horizon is no longer an experiment—it's our main product.

In this process, we’ve decided to take another leap to symbolize that change: Horizon is being rebranded to become Backdrop, replacing the original flagship product we launched almost a year ago. Later today, we will sunset that previous version of Backdrop.

We really appreciate all the love and help from everyone who participated in the first chapters of this journey with us. We hope that you will continue following along through the many more chapters to come. We're still the same team (and growing!), and our passion for connecting web3 communities is stronger than ever.

If you are a part of the current Horizon experiment, you're automatically migrated to the new Backdrop—no need for you to do anything. And as always, we're keen to hear your feedback!

Ah, one last thing…

We are really, really excited to announce one more big thing. We have just started working on making Backdrop more open and (sufficiently) decentralized. These are the first steps in guaranteeing a platform built with the right web3 ethos. It also opens up the doors for developers and more networks to use our technology and to grow Backdrop with us, supporting the future of internet-native work and networks.
